What’s Driving Your Decision-Making?

You made a hundred decisions before lunch today. A few of them, you actually thought through. Most of them, you didn’t.

That’s not a productivity issue; it’s how the brain is built. And once you see how it works, it becomes almost impossible to ignore in every leadership call you make.

Here’s the benefit: the leaders who learn to spot the difference between a decision they’re making and a decision that’s making them tend to unlock strategies, hires, and pivots their competitors never even consider. Not because they’re smarter. Because they’re not fighting their own wiring anymore.

The Autopilot Behind the Wheel

Most of your leadership choices, the ones that feel like “just how you operate”, aren’t coming from careful analysis. They’re coming from a much older, much faster part of the brain, one whose only real job is to keep you safe.

That part of the brain doesn’t know the difference between a saber-toothed tiger and a bold new strategy that might fail in front of the board. Both register as threat. And threat has one job: shut things down before they get you hurt.

So, the boldest version of your idea gets edited down. The hire you weren’t sure about gets passed over for the safe one. The pivot that could reposition the whole company gets tabled “for now”, which often means indefinitely.

None of that shows up as fear. It shows up as “that’s just not how we do things here.”

Where Your Winning Strategy Comes From

Somewhere early in your career, maybe early in your life, you found a formula that worked. A way of showing up that got you noticed, promoted, trusted. We call it your Winning Strategy – after all, it has gotten you this far.

The trouble isn’t that the formula worked. The trouble is that it’s still running the show, quietly, automatically, long after your role got bigger than the formula was built for. Most leaders don’t outgrow their Winning Strategy. They just stop noticing it’s there.

The Truth About How the Brain Actually Works

A few things to consider:

The brain’s threat-detection system reacts in milliseconds, long before the slower, more deliberate part of your thinking even gets a vote. By the time you consciously “decide,” a decision has often already been made underneath you.

Consider the math. Conscious awareness processes something like 40 bits of information per second, that’s the “you” who feels like you’re deliberately running the show. The unconscious mind, in that same second, is handling something closer to 11 million bits.

That’s not a rounding error. That’s roughly 99.9996% of everything your brain is doing at any given moment happening below the level you’d ever call “thinking.” A ratio of about 1 to 25,000.

Most of that unconscious load is doing good, necessary work, running your habits, regulating emotion, coordinating movement, filtering the noise so you’re not drowning in raw sensory data. But it’s also where threat detection lives. And threat detection doesn’t wait for a vote from the 40-bit version of you before it acts.

Perceived threat doesn’t just narrow your options. It measurably reduces access to the part of the brain responsible for creative problem-solving and long-range thinking, the exact capacities a big decision needs most.

This is precisely why transformation so often gets misread as reckless. It’s not that the idea is dangerous. It’s that the part of your brain guarding your survival can’t tell the difference between danger and growth.

What Changes When You See It

Here’s the deal: none of this requires a leap.

You don’t dismantle a Winning Strategy that’s run your whole career in one dramatic breakthrough. You interrupt it one decision at a time, small, deliberate, repeatable, until the automatic response is no longer the only response available to you.

That’s the real work of Renascence. Not a cliff-edge reinvention. A series of small, deliberate steps that hand the decision back to you, the actual you, not the decades-old survival formula still running quietly in the background.

The leaders who do this don’t just make bolder decisions. They make decisions their organizations can truly trust, because those decisions are finally coming from clarity instead of autopilot.

Now, that’s leadership.

Will empower you with the knowledge and tools to CREATE the CONTEXT for your life and your business

Context is the freedom to be context in space. It has no form, no place in time; It allows form and time. In the absence of a consciously·created context, Our lives are controlled by content- The forces and circumstances of the condition in which we live. Once you create a context, that context then generates a process in which the content -The forces & circumstances - reorder and align themselves with the context.

For example, if you choose to shift the context of your life from "I don't matter" to "I make a difference" The circumstances in your life, while they may not have changed, take on an entirely new meaning. The new meaning, then begins to reflect that you make a difference.

What is the context of your life today? What do you desire the context of your life to be?

"Talking about transformation is no more than a representation, an image of the real thing. It's like eating the menu instead of the steak – neither nurturing nor profound. It is in being transformed – in being authentically true to oneself – that one lives passionately free, unencumbered, fearless, committed."
